Event Spotlight - San Antonio Conf Finals
| |
The line-ups are in for San Antonio and the four remaining coaches have provided fans with some interesting fights. The contrast in philosophy is clear some coaches have chosen to give their line-up a complete overhaul in order to find the six best fighters like New York who only return two starters. Other teams have stuck with fighters that got them to this point i.e. the Oklahoma Destroyers who only have one new starter.
One thing is for sure two coaches will wake up Sunday morning with their championship dreams still intact while two others will be left asking themselves “What could I have done differently?”
-New York Clash vs. New Jersey Tigers-
1. Abraham Han vs. Tom Grimmer
2. Leo Valdivia vs. Radji Bryson-Barrett
3. Rami Ibrahim vs. Shennen Maceo
4. Patrick Barry vs. John James
5. Jaime Fletcher vs. Uriah Hall
6. Jennifer Santiago vs. Munah Holland
Main Event: A re-match five months in the making between Jennifer Santiago and Munah Holland closes out the first half when New York takes on New Jersey. The fighters spilt two rounds in their first meeting. Expect two more rounds of nonstop action because both Holland and Santiago are willing to stand and trade.
Toss Up: The showdown between New York’s Rami Ibrahim and New Jersey’s Shennen Maceo will be a hotly contested bout. Both fighters bring Muay Thai credentials to the ring. Maceo has the height and reach advantage, but Rami has learned throughout his career how to keep bigger fighters at bay.
Key Alternate: 22 year old Lyman Good of New Jersey made an impressive debut in the last playoff round against St. Louis. Still an alternate at 178 lbs. Good may be called upon in the second half to slow down New York starter Leo Valdivia.
-Oklahoma Destroyer vs. L.A Stars-
1. Anthony Njokuani vs. Jason Bourelly
2. Jesse Lawrence vs. Sebastian Lopez
3. Jeri Sitzes vs. Alicia Ashley
4. Patrick Smith vs. Donald Vickers
5. Thomas Longacre vs. Dan Rawlings
6. Chidi Njokuani vs. Raymond Daniels
Main Event: Two WCL veterans square off to open the Western Conference finals. Another anticipated rematch from the season opener pits Oklahoma’s Anthony Njokuani up against L.A’s Jason Bourelly. The two top dogs at 164 lbs. will set the tone for the rest of the night with the outcome of their fight. Njokuani is a long lanky striker while Bourelly is built like a tank, but is as fast as a Ferrari.
Toss Up: Jeri Sitzes and Alicia Ashley have gone a total of four rounds in WCL competition and experts still say this fight is too close to call. In the season opener Ashley got the upper hand earning a win and a tie. Since the opener both fighters have been on a tear going a combined 9-0.
Key Alternate: David Taylor of Oklahoma would be a starter for any other team in the WCL. Taylor has a 5-1 record inside the WCL, with the lone loss coming at the hands of his possible opponent in the second half Jason Bourelly.
