The World Combat League’s Eastern and Western conference finals provided an interesting look into how coaching strategy plays a crucial part in this unique combat sport. In both contests it was tale of two halves. New York and L.A came away with close victories and will meet June 7th in Tulsa, OK to decide the toughest city in America.
-New York Clash vs. New Jersey Tigers-
WCL rookie Abraham Han set the tempo for New York’s first half run. With 2 KO wins in their first 3 fights New York jumped out of the gates with a 32 point lead. New Jersey avoided the sweep with a 15-3 Uriah Hall win.
The second half saw New York hang on to dear life as the Clash lost 5 consecutive fights until the final bell was sounded. The 3 KO wins to 1 advantage for New York proved to be the deciding factor as the Tigers could not climb out of the hole they dug for themselves over the course of the first 7 match-ups.

-Oklahoma Destroyer vs. L.A Stars-
The Oklahoma versus L.A match-up was a back and forth affair that saw the Destroyers take the lead thanks to a 30-0 KO differential. L.A’s big three of Bourelly, Ashley, and Daniels went 6-0 on the night with their 3 wins in the first half keeping the Stars within striking distance at halftime.
Coming into the conference finals many would argue that Oklahoma had the deepest team in the WCL. Sending out 6 fresh alternates in the second half put that theory to the test. L.A’s bench performers came up big as they went 2-1 in the second frame. With the score tied at 128 a piece, L.A completed the comeback with a 16-9 Raymond Daniels win.
